Power To The Peaceful 2012

on Thursday, 26 May 2011. Posted in News

Michael Franti and Guerrilla Managment, producers of San Francisco's Power to the Peaceful Festival today announced that the anticipated 2011 event will be rescheduled for 2012. The festival will return annually thereafter.

After 12 years, the free music, arts and action event has grown into an international destination experience incorporating a weekend of concerts, yoga, dj's, action sports, environmental & social justice organizations and workshops with last year's event attended by more than 80,000.

In 2012 we will be transforming the festival into a celebration of the multi-cultural heritage of the Bay Area, returning to Golden Gate Park, bigger and better than ever.

"In this time of great change in the world, I can't think of a better way to celebrate peace than by bringing the music, food and culture of our diverse community all into one place. After 12 years of staging the festival, we've decided to take a breather in 2011 so we can put all of our energy into make the festival the most inspiring it can be in 2012!"

Power to the Peaceful  is a 501c3 non-profit organization who's mission is to inspire people to bring about peace by giving back to the world and our communities.

Details, details, details!?! Please give us an update of some kind, let us know what's going on with PTTP 2012. Where can we find more information? And what the heck is going on with the PTTP twitter? Is any of that relevant to the event?

What I'd like to know most about is tickets for the related events, and the VIP situation. How much does it cost, and if we have our daughter with us, does she need VIP tix too? She'll be four years old then.

Thanks! I am so looking forward to finally making it there this year!

    I second Michelena's comment..

Is there any place we're able to find out about what's going on with this event (if it's happening in 2012; if so, when; what's the projected lineup; ticket prices; etc)??? Thanks!

  • Announcement: Cancellation

    July 31, 2012, in News, Views: 13515

2012 Event Cancellation: Power to the Peaceful has become one of the most exciting free concerts in San Francisco, and as the organizers for this event, we are proud of what we bring to the City.  But we also have to be honest about the impact of the event’s overwhelming success: the crowd is getting bigger each year and more resources are needed to make sure everyone can enjoy the concert safely.

While the San Francisco Recreation & Park Dept and the SFPD have been supportive of Power to the Peaceful, and its Commission approved the event in May, as we were moving forward with the event planning, we recognized the harsh reality of hosting a popular free concert, and keeping the crowd safe. We are limited with resources to pay for the cost of the production, safety & crowd impact so we decided to cancel the concert. We are on a powerful journey, and we will be back peacefully."
